Legal services

Residence in Germany

I assist my clients in visa, residence and work permit applications for Germany and I also represent them in front of court.

Depending on your nationality, the duration and the reason for your stay in Germany, the service encompasses different kinds of legal proceedings. These factors determine what documents you and, if applicable, your family members require in order to apply for residency and/ or a work permit for Germany.

Reasons for staying in Germany can be divided into the following categories:

  • Employment based residence in Germany: including artists, self-employed persons, leading professionals, highly skilled persons, IT-specialists
  • Education based residence: apprenticeship, internships, studies, training, language courses
  • Family based residence: spouse and children
  • Humanitarian based residence: Asylum

Depending on the duration of your stay you will be eligible for permanent residence status e.g. Permanent residence permit or a German passport.

In some cases, the German authorities ask for legalized documents or an ‘Apostille’. I also assist in obtaining these documents. Moreover certified translations of the documents can be ordered via the law firm.

Asylum

If a person seeks refuge in Germany, I represent the applicant in the procedure before the Alien Offices, the ‘Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge’, as well as the responsible courts.

Depending on the reason of flight, nationality, travel route and family status, the applicant can receive different kinds of residence status in Germany. In the first case, the German authorities will check, whether they are responsible for conducting the asylum procedure in Germany. If a person was registered or applied for asylum in another EU country, prior to arrival in Germany, it is likely that he/she will be sent back to that country. This, by itself, can be a difficult and time consuming process. In these cases legal consultation is highly recommended. Moreover, I represent persons in custody, pending deportation.

Costs

The costs for legal services in residence and asylum related proceedings are generally based on the ‘Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz’. They also depend on the difficulty of the case and the amount of work it entails.

The fees for a first/primary consultation are usually between €50 and €100.

Miscellaneous

I also represent my clients in legal proceedings related to immigration matters such as family law and social law.
